Job Role: Senior MicroStation Technician

2LMN is seeking an experienced MicroStation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support a variety of civil engineering projects by preparing and managing complex design drawings, models, and documentation using MicroStation and other CAD tools. As a senior member of the team, you will lead drafting efforts, mentor junior technicians, and ensure that all designs adhere to client specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare complex 2D and 3D design models, drawings, and layouts for civil engineering projects, with a focus on roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure, using MicroStation and related CAD software.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to produce high-quality project deliverables.
  • Review, modify, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of design plans, drawings, and documentation.
  • Take a leadership role in coordinating CAD standards and best practices across multiple projects.
  • Oversee and mentor junior CAD technicians, providing guidance and support as needed to develop their skills.
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve design challenges and make recommendations for design improvements.
  • Manage CAD files, ensuring they are organized, up-to-date, and compliant with company and project standards.
  • Assist in preparing technical documentation, such as reports and presentations, to support project submissions.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance processes, reviewing drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or technical diploma in drafting, civil engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a MicroStation Technician, with a focus on civil engineering or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Expert-level proficiency in MicroStation, including experience with 3D modeling, Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads, or other civil engineering CAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and industry standards, especially in roadway, bridge, or utility design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead drafting efforts on complex projects and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience working with both public and private sector clients is a plus.
